Dear Friend,
Because you are a treasured friend and partner, I am writing to let you in on a little secret. On September 4, 2008, I would so much love you to join us in honoring my parents, R.W. and Winn Schambach, for their 60th Anniversary of marriage and ministry.
What a privilege it is for me, the daughter, to plan an event to help honor the faithfulness of a couple who have tirelessly and faithfully served the Lord—and each other—for 6 decades!
I can remember living with them and my brother, for 4 years in a travel-trailer, while my dad followed the call of God to caravan across the country with Evangelist A.A. Allen. Because he did much of Brother Allen’s advance work, my mother at times was left with two small children, alone, in unfamiliar places.
Later in the 60’s when brother #2 came along, my dad was often gone for weeks at a time, establishing churches and a national radio ministry along the Eastern seaboard. Even though that was difficult at times, Mother comforted us by reminding us he was busy telling others about Jesus, and we united as a family for the cause of Christ.
When they traveled in the 70’s and 80’s together, under the tent, ministering to thousands of people night after night, until the wee hours of the morning, for 10-30 consecutive days—they never complained.
Instead, we would hear them recount with joy, testimony after testimony, of lives being reclaimed by Jesus, drug addicts set free, sick bodies being healed, and even the dead being raised! I’ve seen them both stand for hours at a time, laying their hands on thousands of children, praying a 9-fold prayer of blessing over each one. And, this was not just when they were young in ministry; they did it under those tents, often in the hot summer heat, well into their 70’s.
I’ve stood by my father’s side, after his major heart operation, watching him personally lay hands on 10,000 Russians, 4-rows deep around a quarter-mile track. He was 65 years of age, and the anointing on his life fueled him for miraculous service!
These aren’t memories of drudgery for them—no, these are the treasured memories of being used by God in powerful ways to preach Jesus and bring deliverance to the captives.
I particularly remember when in the mid-90’s, Dad was attacked with congestive heart failure. We decided together that I would do the tent meetings, while he had 100 days to rest.
For the first time in my life, I truly understood what my Dad had been carrying in the ministry all of his life. I was the one solely responsible to be sure I had God’s message for the people; I carried the weight of the lost souls and the sick bodies; I waited before the Lord in intercession for the services; and I carried the burden of the finances of the meeting.
What a heavy responsibility that was those 100 days. I marveled that my parents had walked with that responsibility for decades!
It’s no wonder this is a miracle ministry. For only the power of the Holy Ghost can enable a human being to walk faithfully under that weight of responsibility—and only God Himself can supply the faithful partners and friends like you who hold up our hands!
The most amazing thing of all is Dad and Mother aren’t finished yet!
At age 82, they both have the fighting, Caleb spirit—looking for the next mountain to claim. My mother is a woman of powerful worship and prayer. My father is an international “grandfather”—so many look to him as an elder statesman who brings an impartation of faith to their countries. He is right now setting his eyes on the nation of Swaziland for a great salvation and miracle crusade.
Our partners have prayed them through so much. These decades of ministry have been a shared experience. Mother and Dad have been kept going by the prayers and support of faithful friends and partners.
That’s my reason for writing today. I want to include you in this special honoring service.
During our fall Enlist Conference, September 2-5, we will be honoring their marriage and ministry during the services. Then, as much as we are able, we are going to hold a surprise banquet on Friday evening, and review some wonderful clips and testimonies of the past 60 years.
Please pray about attending and let us know you are coming by calling us at 903-825-9361-- as soon as possible-- the seating for that night is limited. I also want you to consider sowing a very special seed into the ministry.
Many churches send their pastors on cruises or buy new cars to honor their leaders. Those are great gifts. But my parents have a need they rarely express. The years of ministry ups and downs have placed some obligations on them which have yet to be released.
How amazing it would be, for everyone of us as family, friends and partners, to loose their hands from every encumbering ministry bill and loan, and also to give them more to achieve the mission in their hearts right now!
The great news is—if everyone did their absolute best—it’s an attainable goal.
Are you with me? Would you love to be part of honoring 60 years of ministry by helping to free Brother and Sister Schambach at age 82, in a way they haven’t been free in a very long time?
Please pray about investing a seed of 60—120-- 180—240—or 300 dollars into this 60th Anniversary offering. You may be able to do $600 or $6000, as the Lord has blessed you. When you give $60 or more this month, I want to send you “Signs, Wonders, & Marriage” on DVD as a special thank you.
Thank you for sharing in this joy with me; and thank you doubly, for always sending your very best. What a blessing you are!
Let me share a testimony with you that came across my desk just today. It is from a precious family of Alaskan fishermen who heard my father loves red salmon and sent him an entire shipment.
Right after they sowed that precious gift, they took their boats into a small inlet in Alaska, where in times past they would haul some 2,000 pounds of salmon on a good day. This time, they took in an unheard-of haul of 100,000 pounds! It was the largest haul of any salmon-fisherman in that area. And it was all red salmon—the best of the best!
They gave with a desire to honor a servant of God, and God honored them with a super-abundant harvest.
Now, I realize that not everyone has salmon to sow. The real truth here lies in the desire of the heart. If there is one thing I’ve learned by watching and listening to my parents through the years—“you just cannot beat God giving!”
I am convinced that as you put your faith into action, and sow with all those who share your appreciation for the lives of Brother and Sister Schambach, your family will reap a super-abundant harvest, too.
And of course, you will have the joy of knowing you had a part in helping to relieve a tremendous burden from my parents’ hearts.
Thank you so much for allowing me to share my heart with you today. And, thank you for praying about your part in helping me to honor two outstanding servants of God, my parents, R.W. and Winn Schambach, on their 60th Anniversary.
Gratefully yours,
Evangelist Donna J. Schambach
P.S. Remember to call us at 903-825-9361 to reserve your seat at our special Honoring Banquet during the Enlist Conference 2008!
